    Walter Danchak, born in 1922 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, was the youngest of eight siblings. He graduated from high school and started working as a manual laborer until he enlisted on October 10th, 1942, to fight overseas. He served in the Mediteranian theater where he earned a Silver Star, and then participated in the D-Day landings, where he was killed.
